INTRODUCTION:

Collaboration thrives on Participation. This becomes the hallmark for Industrial Democracy which is the critical factor driving successful partnerships in our organizations. The establishment of creative partnership in turn generates healthy organizational bottom line upon which the survival of organizations are built. Without creatively interfacing all the critical elements constituting the workplace in sustainable and successful interaction, organizational growth suffers while the capacity of leaders or organizational drivers to ensure that these elements maintain a healthy collaborative relationship ensures that the organization continues to grow systematically and sustainably.

One of the fundamental characters of Production is that it is Social. The Workplace therefore is social. Essentially, it creates a maze of relations both vertical and horizontal amongst the diverse individuals and groups that make up the workplace matrix. Its character, its nature, its objectives and its propelling force are all anchored around the nature of the various intervening and countervailing forces. Without the workplace, these relations become inchoate. Emerging Relations in our workplaces define and shape overall theories and practices that govern Production.

Critical is the need for a framework to be created which will seek the mediation of the diverse interests and objectives within organizations in a more coherent manner towards achieving the overall objectives of the larger organization.

The knowledge gap that exists especially amongst Industrial Relations practitioners about the forces that shape attitudes of each other in our respective organizations makes it imperative that we organize this workshop knowing that once this gap is filled, social partners will have a better grasp and understanding of each other’s attitude and will be less likely to respond negatively.

The aim of this workshop is therefore to create solid awareness amongst different groups in the workplace of their roles in shaping positive organizational dynamics. The need to understand the place of interpersonal relations amongst all the groups and individuals within given organizations in their overall strategy for success within the understanding that creative partnership in the workplace works best for all the groups and individuals within it.
