INTRODUCTION

The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is a Level 6 qualification designed for individuals who want to develop their knowledge and skills in occupational health and safety. It is recognized globally as the leading qualification for health and safety professionals.

The course covers a wide range of health and safety topics, including risk assessment, occupational health, hazardous substances, workplace and equipment safety, and emergency planning and response.

The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is divided into four units, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of health and safety:

  •  Managing Occupational Health and Safety
  •  Hazardous Agents in the Workplace
  •  Workplace and Work Equipment Safety
  • Application of Health and Safety Theory and Practice

The course is designed for professionals who have already obtained the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent qualification. It is also suitable for individuals who have experience working in health and safety and want to further their knowledge and skills.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:

The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is a Level 6 qualification that aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to manage workplace safety effectively at an international level. The course objectives include:

  • To provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of health and safety management at an international level.
  • To equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to develop and implement effective health and safety management systems in the workplace.
  • To develop learners’ understanding of workplace hazards and risks associated with hazardous agents and provide them with the knowledge and skills required to assess and control these risks.
  • To develop learners’ understanding of workplace and equipment safety and provide them with the knowledge and skills required to develop and implement safe systems of work.
  • To prepare learners for a career in health and safety management and provide them with the knowledge and skills required to manage workplace safety effectively.
  • To develop learners’ ability to apply health and safety theory and practice to a workplace scenario and demonstrate their ability to manage workplace health and safety effectively.

 

COURSE OUTLINE:

The NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is divided into four units, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of health and safety:

Module 1: Managing Occupational Health and Safety

  • Principles of health and safety management
  • Governance, leadership and culture for health and safety
  • Managing occupational health and well-being
  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture

Module 2: Hazardous Agents in the Workplace

  • Managing occupational health
  • Identification, assessment and evaluation of hazardous agents
  • Control of hazardous agents
  • Monitoring and reviewing of hazardous agents
  • Biological agents

Module 3: Workplace and Work Equipment Safety

  • General workplace issues
  • Principles of fire and explosion
  • Work equipment
  • Machinery safety
  • Electrical safety
  • Construction safety
  • Workplace transport and driving for work

Module 4: Application of Health and Safety Theory and Practice

  • Emergency planning and response
  • Organizational factors
  • Human factors
  • Principles of risk assessment
  • Quantitative risk assessment
  • Evaluation of health and safety performance

Throughout the course, participants will be expected to apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios and case studies, demonstrating their ability to identify and manage health and safety risks and implement effective health and safety management systems.
