System Analysis and Design involves continual discovery and application of new techniques and approaches to developing more effective and efficient systems.  The success of any business is dependent on its ability to gather, organize, and interpret information as regards its operational components and objectives. Systems analysis and design is a proven practice that aids both large and small businesses secure the benefits of utilizing information to its full capacity. Every business entity sets up various types of information systems to support the diverse processes needed to carry out their business functions. Each of these information systems has a particular purpose or focus. Any system implemented without adequate understanding of its necessity is bound to fail.

The main aim of systems analysis and design is to improve organizational systems, typically through applying software that can help employees accomplish key business tasks more easily and efficiently. All information systems projects move through the four phases of planning, analysis, design, and implementation; all projects require analysts to gather requirements, model the business needs, and create blueprints for how the system should be built; and all projects require an understanding of organizational behavior concepts like change management and team building.

The course seeks to discuss the methodologies applicable in performing information requirements analysis and developing high quality Information System which utilizes Information Technology, people and Data to support business requirement. It emphasizes the fundamental process of systems development and process life cycle (SDLC), agile approaches, and object-oriented analysis with UML, along with conditions for using them.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to;

  • Apply the system development life cycle in gathering and analyzing data to determine appropriate system
  • Design system components and environments
  • Create models required in system implementation
  • Relate with the fundamental principles of object-oriented systems analysis and design
  • Describe the Unified Process, its extensions, and the Unified Modeling Language
  • Design a database, user interface and controls for data storage, data interaction and data protection.

The course is designed for developers, project managers, business and systems analysts, architects, data modelers and anyone else who is involved in the planning, building and designing software systems.

Multiple training delivery methods are employed including Lectures, Demonstrations, Practical, Self Practice and case study in order to reinforce these training and learning methods.
